Army To Investigate After Video Of British Soldiers ‘Firing At Picture Of Jeremy Corbyn’ Emerges

The clip, posted to social media with a banner saying “HAPPY WITH THAT”, shows four army personnel from the 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment firing off a number of rounds.
The camera then pans down the range to reveal a large picture of the Labour leader, now covered in paint marks.
Video has emerged of soldiers on a shooting range in Kabul firing at a target of Jeremy Corbyn. MOD confirms it as legit: pic.twitter.com/qOr84Aiivj
— Alistair Bunkall (@AliBunkallSKY) April 3, 2019 It is understood it was a non-lethal hardened wax substance was used instead of metal bullets, with the incident taking place in the past few days.
The Labour leader said he was “shocked” by the footage.
Twitter Brigadier Nick Perry, commander of 16 Air Assault Brigade, said the Army is conducting a full investigation and wants to get to the bottom of what happened.
“This is a serious error of judgment,” Brig Perry said. “Let me be clear – the Army is, and always will be, an apolitical organisation.
“We have 400 soldiers from the Brigade conducting force protection in Afghanistan, and working closely with both Nato and Afghan partners. These soldiers are doing an outstanding job out there.”

— 16AirAssaultBrigade (@16AirAssltBde) April 3, 2019 A spokesperson for the MoD said “a full investigation has been launched” adding the video is “totally unacceptable and falls well below the high standards the army expects”.
Corbyn said: “I’m shocked, obviously, that this sort of thing has happened.
“I hope the Ministry of Defence will conduct an inquiry into it and find out what was going on and who did that.”
Referring to the threats against Rosie Cooper and the atmosphere in British politics, Corbyn said: “Yes people have disagreements and yes people have divisions.
“Conduct those divisions and disagreements in a respectful way. Don’t descend into something ugly and violent.”
Labour MP Angela Rayner called the video “absolutely disgraceful”. In a tweet she added: “Political tensions are heightened at the moment and this type of behaviour is wholly inappropriate and unacceptable, we expect much better from our Army and soldiers.”
Absolutely disgraceful, l hope the investigation will be conducted thoroughly and the conclusions made public. Political tensions are heightened at the moment and this type of behaviour is wholly inappropriate and unacceptable, we expect much better from our Army and soldiers. https://t.co/zA53JnsTsf
— Angela Rayner (@AngelaRayner) April 3, 2019 MP Jess Philips described the video as “absolutely hideous and irresponsible”.
Shadow defence secretary Nia Griffith later revealed she had written to her Tory counterpart, Gavin Williamson, asking him to “condemn this footage immediately” and “commit to ensuring that the investigation is thorough and carried out in a timely manner”.
In the letter posted on Twitter, she added that the “appalling footage comes at a time when members of Parliament face an unprecedented level of threat to their personal safety”.
I was horrified to see the footage apparently showing soldiers firing at an image of @jeremycorbyn .
This disgraceful behaviour is deeply troubling and has no place in the Army.
I have written to @GavinWilliamson about the investigation that is underway. pic.twitter.com/WcELyHLDPE
— Nia Griffith MP (@NiaGriffithMP) April 3, 2019 Labour has been contacted for comment.
It comes after far-right activist Tommy Robinson posted a photograph of himself surrounded by grinning soldiers in October – prompting another Army probe.
The former English Defence League leader also shared a video featuring Army personnel who cheered and shouted his name.
At the time, the Army said it was aware of the image and footage and was “investigating the circumstances”, adding that a “far-right ideology is completely at odds with the values and ethos of the armed forces”.

EFL PAUL’S HAUL Man Utd ready to open contract talks with Pogba to fend off Real Madrid – but French star wants £500,000-a-week
The World Cup winner still has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford but the Red Devils are acutely aware of Zinedine Zidane’s interest Exclusive 5th April 2019, 7:11 am Updated: 5th April 2019, 7:12 am By Martin Lipton Invalid Date, MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to open contract talks with Paul Pogba — in a bid to fend off Real Madrid.
But the star midfielder wants an eye-watering £500,000 a week to put him up with Alexis Sanchez as the club’s top-paid player. Getty – Contributor 2 Paul Pogba is eyeing a staggering £500,000-per-week contract to stay at Manchester United
Real boss Zinedine Zidane hopes to land fellow Frenchman Pogba as well as Chelsea’s Eden Hazard as part of his Bernabeu summer refit.
But while Pogba, 26, is thought to be flattered by the prospect of moving to Madrid, United will do everything in their power to keep the midfielder.
And that means agreeing with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that Pogba must remain a key part of the United squad for the long-term.
Pogba’s current deal has two years to run, although United have an option to extend that for a further 12 months.
But the Red Devils could be willing to put a three-year extension on the table, tying Pogba to Old Trafford until 2024.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola is aware that his player is in high demand and will push United all the way when negotiations begin next week.
Any new deal would need a huge wage increase with Pogba currently on a basic of £300,000 a week, significantly less than flop Sanchez’s £505,000. Raiola is also acutely conscious of Solskjaer’s desperation to keep Pogba with United set to lose out-of-contract pair Ander Herrera and Juan Mata.
Meanwhile, Sanchez’s troubled stay at Old Trafford is on the brink of ending if the club can find a buyer.
That all puts Pogba and his agent in the box seat but, for United, winning the battle with Real is seen as a vital statement of intent and ambition. Got the phone trough courier service in about three weeks after initial order, came packaged well, without any damage. Phone is really nice, very bright OLED 6.2 inch screen, glass back (wish i would order version in blue, black looks kinda bland). Photo camera is AMAZING, photos in low light are extremely good, portrait mode with bokeh comparable to DSLR or mirrorless cameras, definitely better than my old Iphone 6S plus, and the storage space of 128Gb will be enough for a lot of pictures and videos. Works with two sim cards, and together with Dual app and alternative workspace functionality, it is very easy to configure phone for personal and work profiles. It is global version, with locked bootloader, working NFC pay (contactless Android Pay), and very simple procedure to update firmware over the air in the future. Initially came with MIUI v. 9, which was updated to MIUI 10 on first boot. MIUI brings additional functionality to compare with MIUI 9, like full screen mode (no softkeys in the bottom) with gesture control. Battery life is very good, thanks to amoled screen. Wifi 5Ghz, double GPS receiver and all the bells and whistles of modern connectivity. It is the real phone upgrade for me, really glad with it. Well done Xiaomi! Oct 19,2018 Yes ( 2 ) Honest Review (after 3 months) I bought Xiaomi Mi 8 3 months and I waited to review because I wanted to give you the most honest review.About the order:After the order was placed, I found it weird to not see any shippyng process, so I contacted Gearbest Support and they helped me. The order came in 20 days after it shipped.About the package:Very well done. The order was wrapped very well, no damaged or anything. Inside the phone package, Xiaomi placed everything really nice. It’s a really nice unboxing.About the phone:The first thing I want to say, that that is the best thing, it’s the fact thay Xiaomi is always updating, it’s always fixing any bugs and updating the security packages, which is amazing and kinda unique in phones these days. The photos are amazing and the quality isn’t disapointing. The images are clear and with the most quality that the camera can deliver. It could have more work and updates though, but i’ts already good. The battery is awesome. With a 100% charge, it gets awake for 2 days, with me watching movies and videos. The display of the phone is very good. I know some people don’t like the nodge, but I gotta say it looks beautiful on the phone. And while watching movies or youtube videos, it’s not a bother. The touch is really good and soft. As the touch id. The touch id is almost instant. The software still needs a lot of work, but works perfectly, the updates don’t slow the phone, not even a bit. It has a lot of customization options to do. The design is absolutly amazing. I believe it is the most beautiful phone I have ever seen. The parts that I dislike about the phone. About the notifications. It needs an update to show the notifications icon at the top of the phone. That’s the thing that I miss the most. One other thing is the notification light. It’s not that shinny and I would like that I could change the color for diferent apps notifications.Anyway, I really recomend this phone. I love it.I don’t thing I have anything else to say. I’m gonna atached to this review some photos I’ve taken with the phone. Feb 03,2019 Yes ( 1 ) Excellent product – It’s Amazing!!! The experience I have had with the Xiaomi Mi 8 has been very good, especially at the screen level, fluidity and performance. A smartphone as versatile as powerful that has not batted before any use, as demanding as it was, and that under a notch that begins to plunge all its carriers in a halo of homogeneity still brings some freshness with gestures that make navigation very comfortable, and that they are missing when they no longer have. With a good construction, it is relatively compact despite not being small, and above all it is very comfortable to grip. Something slippery and with a new aesthetic for the rear camera that gives us quite déjà vu, but keeping the touches that the Mi lineage carries in their genes for some generations and with quality materials. The improvements fit especially in sound, where they have not managed to stand out at least as far as that external speaker (also missing a stereo sound). What seems to compensate them is the elimination of the 3.5 millimeter jack because they have already maintained it in several terminals, although at least they are willing to deliver an adapter from this connector to USB type C.The camera has given us an experience of all kinds of colors, smells and tastes. Good shots day and night, but also others that leave to be desired, yes, with good results in video and a very complete app (although we played it). Maybe we will see improvements with updates, when there is a more stable software. In general, what we have to see is also that the experience in terms of performance has no buts, that the layer may like us more or less and that we probably deal with some adjustment or app that we prefer not to have, but the fluidity prevails in the navigation through the software of this terminal Dec 16,2018 Yes ( 4 ) My recommendation for the Xiaomi mi 8. From an Apple iPhone customer in the UK When I ordered this phone, I was sceptical at first because I had many questions and worries because I was so used to buying iPhones.I wondered if I’ll ever get used to the different layout, whether the phone is reliable or high enough quality considering it’s a fairly new brand with little recognition. However, now that I have received it I know that I won’t go back to an iPhone.1. It’s faster than most iPhones (including the X)2. The layout was very easy to get used to and master (within 2 days). Also, transferring all my data between phones was easy using google drive as very helpfully instructed when setting up the phone- it was effortless!3. The company is not greedy like Apple ( xiaomis only have 5% profit mark up, compared to 50% + on iPhones) and is also very fan focused. There is a helpful Xiaomi forum app which is pre installed, where you can recommend improvements and get answers for all your questions about using a Xiaomi.4. Their phones are very affordable and just as good (in some ways even better than Samsung’s and iPhones).5. I can go into the details of the great camera, display, processing specs and their advantages over Apple iPhones but I’d be here all day. Look for yourself, quality and performance wise I see this phone in particular somewhere between the iPhone 8+ and X.This phone is worth it without a doubt, I’m glad the biggest smartphone companies are getting a run for their money. Their brand image as a reason for premium pricing is starting to crack. In short, the Xiaomi mi 8 is a high end phone in all respects, with medium range pricing. Aber was solls. Nov 17,2018 FAQ for Xiaomi Mi 8 6.21 inch 4G Phablet Global Version Does Xiaomi Mi 8 support quick charge? Corbyn Cannot Fall Into May’s Brexit Trap, And Become The Tory Party’s Fall Guy
Australia Brasil Canada Deutschland España France Ελλάδα (Greece) India Italia 日本 (Japan) 한국 (Korea) Maghreb México Québec (en français) South Africa United Kingdom United States THE BLOG 03/04/2019 13:57 BST | Updated 03/04/2019 13:57 BST Corbyn Cannot Fall Into May’s Brexit Trap, And Become The Tory Party’s Fall Guy Why is May only now reaching out across the aisle? Because her terrible deal leaves her no way out – Corbyn must not fall for this charade 532 Laura Bierer-Nielsen Director of Policy and Research at Labour Leave Theresa May is setting a trap for Jeremy Corbyn, of that there can be no doubt. The only question now is: will he fall straight into it? Or will he have the wisdom, leadership and courage to see straight through it?
After two-and-a-half years of closed-door negotiations, the UK has been presented with a truly disastrous Withdrawal Deal – a deal so terrible that even many Tory MPs won’t vote for it. Now the full horror of Theresa May’s deal is clear for all to see, she is turning in desperation to Labour to dig her out of the hole she has created – and trap us into taking the blame when it eventually falls for good.
This dramatic U-turn from the Prime Minister is rightly being viewed with intense suspicion by many in the Labour Party. One thing is very clear, the Tories have put their own needs first throughout this process, ignoring the best interests of the UK, its people and businesses. This new so-called ‘spirit of cooperation’ is just another part of this devious strategy.
Numerous attempts have been made by moderate Labour MPs such as Lisa Nandy and Gareth Snell to reach out towards a collective approach to deliver the referendum result. These approaches have been consistently rebuffed, or when entertained, Labour’s suggestions have been ignored.
Jeremy Corbyn must consider this backdrop and ask himself: why now? Why is Theresa May suddenly interested in our opinion? The answers are plain to see: her Withdrawal Agreement has been an abject failure, causing the largest Parliamentary defeat in recorded history. The Conservative Party are splitting at the seams, with senior MPs appearing on national broadcasters spitting feathers and telling their own Chancellor “up yours!” , and the polling is showing a growing lead for the Labour Party.
But perhaps even more than this, there is an increasing chance that the UK will either not leave the UK at all, or drop out without a deal. These are two results May seems unable to countenance, so she is attempting to draw in the opposition front bench to share the responsibility of failing to implement the result of the largest democratic vote in history.
These talks are nothing more than window dressing; an attractive and compelling trap that gives the impression of collaboration in order to ultimately distribute blame for the inevitable failure of the deal. Jeremy Corbyn must not fall into this trap. To do so would weaken his credibility and prop up the strategy of the Conservative Party. The failure of this deal lies solely with the Tory leadership, and there should be no backhanded political manoeuvrings to tar Corbyn with the same brush.
Of course, Corbyn should always look to embrace attempts at cross-party collaboration on the biggest issue this country faces, but not with a weak Prime Minister with no shred of authority left. In fact, the Labour leader has been engaging in far more productive cross-party discussions than Mrs May, for several weeks. Meetings have taken place between the Labour front-bench and members of other opposition parties to assess areas of consensus, and further talks are clearly necessary following the indicative votes.
It is now obvious to Mrs May that she can’t bring her ERG MPs onside, and the DUP’s attitude is hardening. With no way out, she is desperate to create a fall guy for her paralysis – and this person is Jeremy Corbyn. She has constantly tried to blame Labour for the failure of the deal to pass. But she was the one who promised the British people that “no deal is better than a bad deal”, not Corbyn. If she had engaged right from the start we could easily have told her that her plans would not succeed in the House, and suggested alternative approaches.
Instead of attending meaningless, vacuous discussions, Jeremy Corbyn should now focus his attention on appealing to Labour voters by adopting a democratic approach to Brexit. More than five million Labour supporters voted to leave the European Union. There are vast swathes of the electorate unrepresented by the mainstream political parties. If Corbyn wants to get to Downing Street within the next decade, he must begin to appeal to the working-class communities such as Dudley and Mansfield; those constituencies essential for a Labour victory at the next General Election. Labour is the voice of working people, and they must not be forgotten by those within the Labour leadership.
Theresa May’s own cabinet are politely divided and disenchanted by her Brexit approach, but the country is appalled and increasingly angry. If Corbyn falls for this charade it could be disastrous for our party long-term. These talks are no more than an attempt to spread the blame for not achieving Brexit, or a much-weakened version of it. This is not a mess of our making. The real cause of the national embarrassment faced by Britain is sitting in Number 10 Downing Street right now.
