The Rise of the Minimalist Skincare Routine

The Rise of the Minimalist Skincare Routine

May 6 2019, 2:38pm The Rise of the Minimalist Skincare Routine Fatigued by multi-step regimens and lackluster results, some people are dramatically scaling back how many skincare products they use. TWEET Julia Kuo At the peak of Aurora Hinz’s skincare routine, she was using 10 products, most of them on a daily basis: Two face washes, a toner, a serum, two moisturizers, sheet masks, an exfoliant, and two over-the-counter acne treatments. Hinz had struggled with breakouts for years, and when skincare came into fashion, she decided to stop covering up her acne with makeup, and instead get to the root of the problem with skincare. She typically bought the products from brands like Cosrx, Innisfree, and Tony Moly, where each item cost her between $10 and $50.
There was a sense in which it seemed more virtuous, Hinz said. Foregoing layers of concealer for “natural” cleansers and creams felt, well, natural. Besides, it was fun: Hinz, who is Korean, enjoyed getting swept up in new Korean beauty trends that were just making their way overseas when she was in high school. But after years of trying to calm her skin with several hundred dollars worth of products and few noticeable results, Hinz saw a dermatologist in 2017, and ditched the bulk of her skincare routine in favor of products prescribed or approved by her doctor. They worked.
“Honestly I think I was just a sucker for all the marketing, packaging, and branding,” Hinz, 20, said. “None of the products I tried worked as well as whatever the dermatologist has given me. My skin is clearer than it’s ever been.” It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly when skincare—a term that’s come to signify far more than merely caring for one’s skin—became the pervasive cultural trend it is today. But Korea is a good place to start: K-Beauty began to secure a foothold in American markets around 2015, when the export value of Korean beauty products to the United States climbed by 60 percent compared to the year before. One of its most popular exports was a 10-step skincare routine , which involves, in this precise order: an oil cleanser, a foam or cream cleanser, a toner, an essence, an emulsion, a serum, a sheet mask, eye cream, moisturizer, and, finally, sunscreen. If you purchase all 10 steps together—as you can on sites like Soko Glam and Peach & Lily —the kit can cost anywhere between $199 and $273 .
The lengthy regimen provided American women with the basic scaffolding to create their own personalized skincare routines, swapping out products for the next must-have items, or simply the ones friends swore by. Since then, the industry has only ballooned, inflated by influencers on Instagram and YouTube as well as the multimillion- and billion-dollar brands many of them endorse, like Glossier and Drunk Elephant , where a 1-oz. Vitamin C serum costs $90 . According to a widely cited 2017 survey from the skincare retailer SkinStore , the average American woman spends about $2,900 a year on skincare and makeup, and replaces her products about every three months.
The skincare industry is still thriving and projected to scale . But there are signs of growing discontents: Women like Hinz, who once bought into the mainstream mythologies surrounding skincare wholesale, have begun to question the merits of such elaborate routines, and wonder whether they’re doing more harm than good to their skin—or if the products have any effect at all. Feeling fatigued, some have taken it upon themselves to drastically reduce their routines; others have turned to dermatologists for professional medical care.
Hinz says now the definitive advice she gives people still entrenched in complicated and costly skincare regimens is: If you can, go see a doctor.
“It turns out I didn’t have many of the issues I thought I had with my skin … it was only so irritable because of the products I was trying,” Hinz said. “I strongly believe that the best thing you can do for your skin is to skip all the craziness and save yourself the trouble by seeing a dermatologist.”
It’s the same advice 25-year-old Elena Politiski began to dole out herself once she found a dermatologist in New York. Before that, Politiski had been convinced that spending on more expensive products from Kiehl’s and Supergoop would help soothe her rosacea, a skin condition that flared up after she graduated college. For years, she continued to replenish her arsenal of products every four to six months, even though none of them appeared to have any effect. “They didn’t really make anything better or worse,” Politiski reflected.
When she finally got to her dermatologist’s office, she said the doctor told her: “None of these products are going to work for your skin.” Of the 10 dermatologists VICE spoke to, three said it’s almost always been the case that their patients use too many over-the-counter products that aren’t right for them. But the seven others said stories like Hinz’s and Politiski’s have become more common over the last few years, as the contemporary skincare fad has come to a fever pitch. By the time patients walk into their practice, many of them have tried dozens of products and spent hundreds of dollars—often frustrated with a lack of results. Making a doctor’s appointment is usually a last resort.
“Patients will come in and tell me they have one kind of cleanser for the day, another for the night, toner, spot treatments, some sort of oil, some kind of antioxidant cream, a facial brush, which usually makes acne worse—just a ton of stuff,” Rachael Cayce, a board-certified dermatologist at the Los Angeles-based DTLA Derm, said. “I see 30 patients a day and I’m having this conversation with 15 of them. Usually what I’m doing is just decreasing their products.”
Cayce typically asks her patients to bring their cache of skincare products with them when they come to see her. She’s often shocked to find that they present her with single products that cost hundreds of dollars, when she knows at the end of the appointment she’ll probably write them a $15 prescription.
“A skincare regimen is just one part of the bigger plan to achieving your best skin, so investing excessive time and money in products is not always that productive,” Tara Rao, a dermatologist at New York’s Schweiger Dermatology Group, wrote in an email. “Often, someone with breakout-prone or inflamed skin will incorporate additional products and steps in an effort to cure the issue … While [they] can help manage the issue, there is a lot of … trial [and error] that does not always have a happy ending.”
While some patients come in eager to finally hear a professional opinion on their skin woes, others are more resistant. Cayce said her patients are sometimes reluctant to scale back their multi-step routines, or unwilling to give up the expensive products included in them. This has even been true of some members of her staff, whom she’s seen using over-the-counter products they know don’t suit their skin. Others still want to insist that their opinions on skincare are the right ones, perhaps especially if they’ve been informed by hours of reading up on serums in skincare subreddits .
“Even when I’m hanging out with people who know I’m a dermatologist, they’ll tell me what to do for my skin,” Cayce said. “They wouldn’t say that if I were a cardiologist.”
Dermatology has entered somewhat of a stalemate with commercialized skincare and its many proponents. As a member of the social media committee at the American Academy of Dermatology, one of the world’s largest organizations of dermatologists, Anthony Rossi says he and his colleagues are constantly trying to figure out how to make scientifically supported information about skincare more accessible to the public. But he admits it’s difficult to compete with the hundreds of skincare influencers across YouTube and Instagram who engage viewers with product reviews and tutorials. “No one wants to read a journal article on skincare,” he said on the phone.
The AAD has begun to try to capture an audience using a similar approach as online personalities, tweeting out short videos , or linking to a dermatologist-approved skincare routine for men .“We think of ourselves as the skincare influencers, and we would like to see the public see us as that,” Rossi continued.
There are some skincare influencers of the same mind: Rio Viera-Newton, a beauty writer at The Strategist who’s known for sharing a Google doc of her detailed skin routine, says she always makes clear that she’s speaking from the standpoint of her personal experience —not making a general statement about what products will work for everyone. And she continues to promote the value of going to see a medical professional to address certain skincare troubles; she sees one regularly.
“Dermatologists are incredible resources and have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to breaking down the science behind skin issues and how products work,” Viera-Newton wrote in an email. “I have severe eczema flare-ups that my dermatologist helps me manage with topical ointments and creams. I can’t imagine trying to deal with it without her.”
But not everyone leaving behind their skincare routines is turning to a dermatologist.
Nneka Udeagbala, who is 21, scaled back her skincare routine after a trip abroad made her notice that her skin’s appearance had more to do with climate and diet than the eight products she had been using daily. Now she only uses two over-the-counter products that most consistently produce results.
Veronica Carleton, who’s the same age, simplified her routine after she went away to college. Concerned about her daughter’s breakouts, Carleton’s mom gave her dozens of products to try— including a scrub, a cleanser, a serum, a night-repair treatment, lightening cream for dark spots, and a bleaching cream for extreme dark spots—none of which proved effective. Now, Carleton says she only uses one product, a gentle facial cleanser, and the results are much better.
“My skin has not looked this good in years,” she said.
But even though Carleton has found a new routine that works for her, she says she would never insist on someone else trying it: Fielding other people’s opinions about what would clear her skin had been exasperating, and she found carrying out their advice (following an extensive, multi-step routine) was tiring “Part of how I ended up in that deep hole is people saying, ‘ You need to do this ,’” she said. “It just piled on, and I don’t think I want to be that for anyone else.” Skepticism toward commercial skincare isn’t new, and it cropped up almost as soon as the current skincare movement gained traction. In January 2018, an Outline article headlined “ The Skincare Con ” became a lightning rod in debates over whether the new obsession with skincare was merely an elaborate scheme to get women to spend more money, or if it constituted a valid way to care for oneself. The piece sparked what Vox termed the “ skincare wars ”: The battle—which took place on Twitter, mostly—was waged not only to answer the question of whether or not skincare is a scam, but also to get to the root of much larger concerns about the myths surrounding self-care and self-improvement that we buy into to cope with our lives.
The rise in skincare has been just one result of the self-care movement, millennials’ “trendy, Instagrammable solution” to the gaping holes in our healthcare system, Tonic writer Shayla Love wrote in December . As Love explained, the current definition of self-care can validate a whole spectrum of behaviors to the point of contradiction: “Eating healthfully or indulgently; spending time alone or seeing friends; working out or taking a rest day; getting a manicure or forgoing beauty routines.” The point is to do whatever you need to do to feel good.
For many people, skincare fit the bill. In a piece for The New Yorker , Jia Tolentino dubbed 2017 “ the year skincare became a coping mechanism .” Tolentino said skincare had been a “small, ridiculous” attempt to affirm that she would “outlive the Trump administration”—and a way to exert a modicum of control over the seemingly intractable political forces that had made her world-weary.
Many women VICE spoke to said skincare had also been a way of bonding with other women. Politiski said when she went away to college she would send her friends face masks for birthdays and holidays as a way to keep in touch; when they visited her in Manhattan, she would take them to the Glossier showroom in SoHo. Udeagbala said when she would hang out with friends in their dorm rooms they would often haul out their skincare collections and show each other whatever new product they’d recently bought.
Find a woman who wants to talk about her skincare routine and you might talk for hours; even as I called women to ask them about eliminating or dramatically simplifying their routines, I found myself sucked into the details of years-long skincare journeys stretching from adolescence into adulthood. Talking about skincare can be a way of finding out about other people’s lives and routines; what they do in private to try to become the person they want to be. When skincare signifies so much, it can be difficult to let go of—whether or not it “works” in the literal sense is almost beside the point.
The Sunday before I began writing this piece, my coworker Rachel Pick announced on Twitter that she would be bringing in almost her entire skincare collection, which she was offloading after seeing a new dermatologist. “Yesterday during spring cleaning I threw out my microneedle roller,” she told me. (A microneedle roller is, by the way, exactly what it sounds like .) “It would always make this horrible creaking sound when I used it, and my husband would just be like, ‘Why?’ Why indeed.”
Like some of the other women I spoke to, Pick said she’d grown impatient when her bundle of skincare products didn’t seem to help her underlying skin condition, and exhausted by the routine. “I just want to go to sleep,” she said, “not do a 10-step Korean skincare routine.”
Some brands already seem to be preparing to accommodate people like Pick. Over the last year, bar soaps have had a resurgence, becoming the new minimalist It-item for “skincare obsessives,” according to a March article from the Cut. “Effectiveness aside, bars also appeal to the Marie Kondo in all of us,” writer Jessica Teas reasoned. “As we declutter every other area of our lives, it only makes sense that the bathroom cabinet goes KonMari too.” The same month, Amazon expanded into the skincare industry, rolling out the line Belei, which is meant to “help customers spend less time and money searching for the right skincare solutions,” as Kara Trousdale, Amazon head of beauty for private brands, said in a statement.
Recently, Vogue also extolled the resurgence of “ single-dose skincare ,” packaged in the form of all-in-one capsules or ampoules popularized by brands like Elizabeth Arden in the 90s, now sold by Estée Lauder , L’Oréal Paris , and, once again, Elizabeth Arden .
Of course, scaling back a skincare routine doesn’t mean abandoning all forms of skincare for good. Our skin is our largest organ; our face, the first thing people see. Most people VICE spoke to were looking for a middle ground between a 10-step skincare routine and a zero-step one. And most found it was well within reach once they let go of the idea that commercial skincare was the panacea for all complexion-related concerns.
“I’ll never be one to turn down a face-mask night with some friends, and I still have fun looking at all the new products that come out,” Hinz said. “I think that there are ways to participate in this trend without having to buy snake oil.”

Gratitude Can Be Entirely Subjective

Miss Priss has finally come out of early forced Retirement. She’s back to killing off things with gusto and leaving them on the back doorstep to show us what a good Working Cat she still is. So now you have to exercise Caution when going out the back door, looking down first to ensure you don’t step on the carnage! No, I won’t regale you with Imagery of the grossness that often greets us some days now, suffice to say, she’s back on Point as The Feline Assassin she was Born to be! This Post will just have Random Imagery of Beauty around the House and whatever Adventures I’ve recently Escaped to. The Storyline will go in lots of random directions as it usually does with the ADHD Mind behind the Writing of it! *Winks*
You see, back at the Historic Property we had Acreage and lots of Out Buildings, so we Needed Working Cats and always Owned several. Or should I say they Owned us, because frankly they all came and Adopted us, not the other way around. Since we were the largest Property in the Innermost and Oldest part of our City, having been part of a Working Ranch before the City was even Founded, stray Animals gravitated to us there. She was one of the last of the Strays that showed up and just never left before we moved to Villa Boheme’.
Even tho’ she was preggy at the time and soon gave birth to two Kittens we had to find Homes for before we moved to our New Home, she was an adept Huntress. But after having moved to Villa Boheme’ in the Rural Burbs of Nowhereland out here in the Boonies, she soon learned that things hunted her! And that she had far less Property to Protect and keep free of pesky things intruding. For a long while she freely Shared her kibbles with every Wild Bird in the area, I think they all would now perish if we ever moved away, having been semi-domesticated by her and reliant on Free Meals?!? *LOL*
She began coming in at Night on a regular basis, she who had never been an Indoor Cat, realized that the really Predatory Wild Things show up in the Dark of Rural Subdivision Hell! We had moved here with two Kitties, but Fluff, a Smallish Persian Stray, well, she lasted about two Weeks… mebbe less. Miss Priss never much liked Fluff, but she sure paid attention to her MIA status I think, mebbe she knew what happened? We like to Imagine that Fluff just Adopted a New Family out here who thought she was Too Cute not to keep, we don’t like to dwell upon the alternative Fates.
The fact of the matter is, knowing what we do now about the area, we’d never again have an Outdoor Pet, they become the Buffet of Wild Native Predatory Animals, whose domain this always was before Man encroached. I don’t Feel any Negative kinda way about that, Nature deserves Natural Habitat and Man keeps taking it away from them mercilessly and greedily. The more adaptable Native Species soon learns what we bring to the Table… literally… to make their now much more difficult Wild Life a bit easier and more effortless than what they’d Naturally have available in the realm of cuisine.
Why us Humans call THEM Nuisance Animals, when we’ve become the Real Nuisance by stealing their Land and not Living in Harmony is really the Question worth answering? But it’s not just Animals that have been displaced over Centuries of Migration of those not Native to any Global Area. I suppose every Native American Human felt the same way about us, the Intruders. Or any Indigenous First Peoples of any Land pushed out and to the brink by Newcomers. Newcomer Humans to any area seem to Feel an Entitlement to EVERYTHING and then have the gall to call whatever was there first The Problem!
I recognize WE are The Problem here, not the Native Predatory Species, or any Wildlife, that have to Live some kind of way as Subdivision after Subdivision is ravaging and molesting the Native Desert they once called Home. We CREATE what we call Nuisance Animals, we’ve given them very little Choice in what they just HAVE to become actually. Most Species of Wildlife being Territorial, it would upset the Balance of Nature for them to try to relocate FROM us, since they’d then be intrusive to the Territories of others of their Kind. So, what should the poor Things do but try to co-exist with us Intruders now?
I don’t have the Answers or Solutions… and Yes, often I Feel quite Guilty for being part of The Problem to these Creatures. By Living on The Fringe of the Natural Desert they once freely roamed without having to come into contact with us. Miss Priss is now more comfortable in her New Environment here in Subdivision Hell and has resumed her original Purpose, tho’ it’s not as necessary, except for The Scorpions she makes short work of, the Birds and the Lizards I Wish she’d leave alone. At first she just took out the Pigeons, which are not indigenous to the area and everyone tries to keep from taking up Residence on their House for obvious reasons.
I have no animosities towards Pigeons in general, unless they’re taking up Residence on our House. I’m actually Curious how a flock flew way the Hell out here anyway, outside of the City so far, perhaps they saw the Human Migration and thought, well, Hell, Why Not?!? So when she took out any Pigeon that decided Villa Boheme’ looked like the Idyllic location to roost, I wasn’t opposed to her ‘Presents’ left on the doorstep. Some of our Neighbors pay a hefty sum for Pigeon Control, Miss Priss provided The Service gratis. But of late she’s taking out any damned thing that moves it seems, mebbe she’s as pissed off having to Live out here now as I am sometimes, I dunno? Killing something, anything, might take the Edge off for her?! *LOL*
Yeah, I said it, tho’ I don’t like to Feel so Ungrateful for this Lovely Luxurious Home, I still have that Love-Hate Relationship with it going on that I can’t seem to quell. In fact, every time I start to have a Peace and Acceptance of it being preferable to any Alternatives, something comes up to remind me of Why I would prefer to Move On! In my Head I’ve Moved On so many times during our semi-imposed Exile out here that I’ve Lived a Thousand other places already on the Canvas of my very fertile Imagination! Now The Man is beginning to join in on those Imaginings, so every drive we scope out Future Possibilities. Having Freedom of Expression just on the Interior of our Home is just not Enough! I want no Bondage to the whims of a Committee and any Uptight meddling Neighbors!
Will it ever happen, well, I’d like to Think so, tho’ considering our Reality, probably not and I’ll have to eventually come to a place of actual Acceptance and Peace about being here possibly Forever. That being a mighty long time, Forever, you really Need to have a Peace about your Forever Home… and I’m not quite there yet. I Hope to be one day if that is the outcome… one day I Hope not to absolutely Loathe the HOA and most of this dysfunctional ‘Community’ which is not at all the Neighborly nor Community oriented sort. But most of them Move On and it’s a very Transient population, which probably contributes to their total Lack of Community I suspect.
More Homes go up for Sale in steady rotation around here in a Week than I ever saw in The Hood in Fifteen Years! People just stayed for Generations where we used to Live, so there was a strong sense of Community and it still exists. People Shared a History that is totally absent here… you got to know one another, Generations of one another, everyone knew you and you knew them. If and when you ever return, even for visits, they genuinely Miss you and your Family’s Presence in their Community, because you had become a part of it and Belonged! That’s what I miss, along with the Owning of a Historic Home, which even the most Fixer-Upper Historic Homes is preferable to me, than even the fanciest Luxury Home New Build. That’s just how I’m hard-wired and Weird like that I guess.
Living The Dream for me would entail going back… IF you even CAN go back? Residing in a Historic Forever Home and Living Happily Ever After. Without any outside forces dictating what kind of a Lifestyle we should have to be appropriate Placement for whose in our Household. Princess T quite recently, while having Lunch in The Old Neighborhood, said we should probably move back there, even before she’s Raised. Now that I’m Adopted she said, they couldn’t make us Live where we don’t want to anymore… True that.
Why would she voluntarily give up her Luxury Living accommodations, which are considerable, coz she has practically a whole Suite up there that she’d never have in The Hood… well, I suspect for the similar reasons I would. For the same reasons her Older Brother gave up his impressive MIL Suite and left practically everything he owned behind. Though it was like a whole Apartment and cost him nothing, he couldn’t wait to get out of here, the Confines of Subdivision Hell… and off to live in a Commune in Washington State with almost a Dozen other Kindred Free Spirits! I mean, we’re all cut from the same Cloth… and BEING Free to us, being Authentic to Self and Living how we choose, well, it is EVERYTHING! Anything that attempts to stifle that just Feels way too imposing and restrictive, too Wrong a Placement!
We’re Free Spirited Folks, we’d rather have complete Freedom roughing it, than having anyone pulling our Strings and Dictating to us in comfort and Luxury. Especially when those Dictators impose their Standards and preferred Lifestyle upon the entire Community they are overseers of… ie: HOA Gestapo! I don’t always Share their Point of View and being this is still America, which should be the Land Of The Free and preserving Personal Freedoms, it kinda pisses me off that every damned New Subdivision MUST have an HOA now! When we were having to move and find whatever the Adoption Court and Caseworkers would Bless to finalize the Adoption I sought Luxury Real Estate for Investment purposes. It was the most bang for the buck and soundest Investment, given the crappy Economic situation.
Investors, Flippers and Developers had gobbled up the Modest Priced Real Estate and you simply couldn’t compete with their Cash Offers and quick Closing. They still snap up every Deal that isn’t overpriced and would have great margins of Equity and decent price per square foot. They generally only steer clear of Luxury Real Estate, doesn’t suit their Purposes for quick Profits or exploitation of The Average Folk dependent upon Affordable Housing. They drive The Market and I don’t particularly like to be herded and driven like a Sheep, especially when it comes to one’s biggest Investment, which for us Average Folk would be your Home Purchase. I don’t mind making a sound Investment, but it doesn’t mean I wanna Camp there indefinitely either just to make a Buck! Freedom is more Valuable than mere Money!
Of coarse I am my own worst Enemy and I know it. I know Real Estate and I’ve always been able to hone in on a Good Deal and a Good Investment, no problemo there. However… I have a lot of Baggage I’m dragging along, literally! Yeah, I’ve been an Accumulator and that means I got a lot of Cool Shit now that must Move with us! *LOL* And I say MUST only because to dispose of it all would take a virtual Lifetime of Selling it off, what’s here now isn’t the Donation Quality possessions my Friends! I’ve been a very adept Accumulator you see, a Hunter-Gatherer of Objects that are Primo! So… that said, I’d like to take MOST ALL OF IT with us when we depart… and that is a lot of Work and Expense to move The Lovely Hoard! It might be the only reason I HAVE to stay put actually. If this Villa was virtually empty, I’d be so down the road already!
And therein is the inner Conflict for Yours Truly, I really, really, really, really LIKE my Shit, in fact I’m in LOVE with a lot of it and it took a Lifetime to obtain it! I don’t WANT to have to give most of it up to Move On and I don’t Feel that I should Have to dammit! It would add insult to injury for having had to Sacrifice and give up my Beloved Historic Home and be Exiled out here in the first place, for a Good and Righteous Cause of coarse, but nonetheless personally Sacrificial! I’d feel utterly Defeated and having to Start Over from a place that wouldn’t afford me the Options I had when both The Man and I had very Successful long Careers and way more Options! I’ve had Nothing and I managed just fine, so it’s not as if I couldn’t… or wouldn’t if it came to that… but, I’d prefer to Visually Enjoy daily the Fruits of many Years of our Labors! How Much of the Muchness could be, should be, carted along to the next Location though… no easy Answer to that yet?!? The Location and Resources would Dictate it actually.
Yes, I could be Happy living Simply again, without barely a pot to piss in… I know that about myself. It wouldn’t be abject Misery for me to go backwards to a time when we had Traveled Light during our Nomad Years and could pack everything we Owned in less than an Hour! *LOL* In fact, there are times I think, wasn’t that more preferable and a lot less Stress? Yes, yes it was… but I’ve been accustomed now to all my Lovely Things and ATTACHED to so many of them. Yep, I’ve formed Attachments to Things, it happened… and detachment from a great many of them would be brutal and I just don’t wanna go thru all that at this Season of Life really. It’s somewhat painful to lose what you Love, even if it’s a Thing, a Place… especially a Person… and I’ve had ENOUGH LOSS already, I don’t want to Sustain and Endure any more!
And so we ride it out, which isn’t so bad, really, it’s NOT! It’s a very Privileged Rant and I’m acutely Aware of that Fact! My Lamentations are rather hyperbolic actually, when I’m in A Mood I tend to embellish the aggravation I sometimes Feel about not being as Free as I LONG to be again. To be Tamed when you’d rather be a Wild Thing is a tough Process. Where The Wild Things Are is probably where I BELONG and when you know you’re NOT there, you sulk a lot and feel trapped and confined! When you’re around the Tamed and the Domesticated sorts who LIKE being told what to do and easily comply without Resistance, you Feel quite misfit! The Rebel in me remains Rebellious by Nature, The Establishment has always been more of a source of annoyance and forced captivity to my Kind than a comfort like it is for many.
Yes, it’s always been called a Counterculture to be like us and the very definition of Counterculture is quite accurate a description so I don’t take offense to it at all! The way of Life and set of Attitudes we have IS opposed to or at a variance with the prevailing Social Norm to a great extent. Not completely now, as I’ve grown Older I’ve mellowed some I suppose… mebbe not as mellow as you’d expect an Aging Wild Thing to be tho’. Perhaps by now, over Six Decades in… well, you’d expect me to have just given up the Fight to be Free from Social constraints? My Parents liked to Joke that I was like this from Birth tho’ and unwavering as I Matured. I was apparently that Kid that would get Naked, be Free Spirited and do Defiant things regardless of consequences. My Offspring were the same… and the DNA seems to run strong thru our lineage actually. *Winks*
I know my Younger Brother marches to his own Beat as well, which is Why we’ve been such close Siblings, we ‘Get’ each other, even when few other people do! As Seniors we could still relate more to the Rebellion of Today’s Youth than the Compliance of most of our own Generation. Some Old Rebels have become so Complacent and Meek now that I don’t even recognize Who they are anymore, I Wonder if they even recognize themselves? And perhaps they are at total Peace with Selling Out and conceding, I dunno?
There are times I think it would be Easier to Comply, just give in and be in Compliance, I really do, but I just CAN’T… I’ve tried, doesn’t Work for me! *Smiles* The thought of just Fitting In actually makes my Skin Crawl because I wouldn’t be ME at all, I’d be their Version of what they think I should be, crammed inside The Box, which would be suffocating! I could be considered, right now, a Rebel without a Cause actually… since it’s not as if I’m going to attend Meetings and try to do away with the dreadful HOA. Or try to convince the Pretentious to be more Harmonious with their Neighbor, because it would just be more Godly, you know… and with all the Fundies out here one would Think at least they’d want THAT?! *Bwahahahahaha!* But you cannot Change other people, nor should you, you have to Change your reaction to how they just ARE even if they have a Neg and Opposed reaction to how you just ARE!
I’ve tried out here in Subdivision Hell to just Live the alleged Good Life… after all, this SHOULD be Living The American Dream from what I’m told. Well, apparently it’s not MY Dream and so I’m probably Living someone else’s Dream right now and it doesn’t Feel as Comfortable to me as it SHOULD. And sometimes I just Need to Express that and not have it mistaken for just being Ungrateful! Gratitude, like many things, can be Entirely Subjective. And I fully Embrace the Glorious Mess than I am, which includes acknowledging what my Heart is Grateful for, even if nobody Understands it, that I just don’t thrive in Captivity… or give a flying Fuck about what other people think about that!

Union Strikes, School Strikes, Birth Strikes – Sunday Laws

Union Strikes, School Strikes, Birth Strikes – Sunday Laws By Share
School Strikes March 15 th , 2019 a worldwide school strike took place. Children being told in their schools that by 2030 they will all be dead because of climate change. And told they have nothing to live for in this world. This is the reality of what is being pressed on them in schools today and also by the mainstream media.
Luk 21:11, 26 …great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (and furthermore)… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth : for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Fear is the motivating factor of those looking at the things of this world and not thinking of things that are heavenly. But for the Christian who understands we can truly say our “Kingdom is not of this world.” (John 18:36)
Birth Strikes Not only have their been school strikes, but also birth strikes. A recent article from FOX News says “‘Birth Strike’ founder argues future ‘too frightening’ for her to have children due to climate change.”
So they feel to afraid to have kids because of a future civilization breakdown because of the climate crisis.
Union Strikes On March 15 th , Labor Unions were called to strike with the schools. The following headline “Unions join students’ call to strike for real climate action” https://www.greenleft.org.au/content/unions-join-students-call-strike-our-climate
It is about to get more serious, the world is in fear, being told we have 11 years until the end. Fearful sights and signs are going to happen, and a godless society will beg their governments to step in and do something as we see more widespread disasters. And many believe that some of these disasters are being enhanced or created by weather manipulation. If this is possible, then it would definitely be in the favor of this agenda to create these disasters.
Now consider this with all these unions and strikes going on that 100 years ago, the following prophecy was given to us.
“Through the working of trusts and the results of labor unions and strikes, the conditions of life in the city are constantly becoming more and more difficult. Serious troubles are before us, and for many family’s removal from the cities will become a necessity.” (EGW Adventist Home 136)
Unions and strikes. You see first you got school strikes, second you got birth strikes, and then labor strikes. So, what’s coming next?
Furthermore, this person also said:
“The time is fast coming when the controlling power of the labor unions will be very oppressive.”— (EGW 2SM 141)
And finally in the book Great Controversy they also wrote:
“As the movement for Sunday enforcement becomes more bold and decided, the law will be invoked against commandment-keepers.” (EGW Great Controversy Page 607)
If you’d like to understand more about this please contact me. This is how we were told the Sunday laws would come, and they are coming just as prophecied.
You see the school strikes going on. Next you see the Birth strikes, and what is about to follow? Labor strikes… And according to the International Labor Organization, the goal is “Reintegrate Sunday protection into EU law.” (COMECE Future of Work Page 34) I’ll come back to this.
Thus through labor unions and strikes, this climate agenda will move forward. The world is in fear, and as part of the agenda, Sunday will be seen as something beneficial to society for the “common good” of everyone. I’ll make this clear below from their own words. But let’s just break down a little bit of history.
I remember when I was in school in the 1980’s that they said our oceans would overflow with water and we’d all be under water by the 1990’s, and by 2000 everyone would die because of global warming we’d all be burnt up.
Fear was being used back then, and our only savior we were told would be the government coming in and straightening everything out.
Oddly enough, it is 2019 right now and we’re still here. I think they have worse things to fear than climate change.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Climate Chaos 2015
In 2013 French Minister Fabio Laurent while meeting with John Kerry made the statement that we had 500 days to avoid climate chaos. Fear gripped the world and the internet.
After this, it followed that but few of us knew what was coming, the internet blew up with potential doomsday scenarios, it was a coming Climate apocalypse that many were waiting for but did not know what was about to come. Pope Francis would be in America, and the time passed, and but few understood the significance of the event.
500 days later it was the day of Atonement, or judgment day. And Pope Francis was speaking to the United States Government, and the day after went to New York City to speak to the United Nations.
Pope Francis put out an environmental encyclical a few months before, and now here they were 500 days after the prediction of avoiding Climate Chaos.
Pope Francis addressed the United Nations concerning the environmental encyclical, and the United Nations on this same day adopted UN Agenda 2030, otherwise known as the Sustainable Development Agenda.
COMECE 2018 Sunday Laws UN and EU
Comece, which is the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (EU) along with the ILO or International Labor Organization which is a United Nations (UN) organization and we are told is an “agency whose mandate is to advance social justice and promote decent work by setting international labour standards.”
They have created a document together on Shaping the Future of work which we are told was to “fuel the discussion on the programme for work of the next European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as the initiative on the future of work launched by the International Labour Organization (ILO).”
In this work together for the future of work, they put together a document called COMECE 2018 – Shaping the Future of work, and in this proposal they are saying that they want to:
“ Reintegrate Sunday protection into EU law: … Sundays, we recommend that the EU protects Sunday in a revised Working Time Directive as a collective day of rest .” (Page 34)

Sundays for the Common Good
“In respecting religious liberty and the common good of all , Christians should seek recognition of Sundays and the Church’s holy days as legal holidays.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2188)
This objective is stated numerous times in their document the Future of Work, and apparently it is to save the earth, the birds and the bees and we are being told that this is for the common good of humanity .
Now just what exactly is the “common good”? Well, In Russia it was recently declared that for the common good of the nation, they outlaw certain sects of believers such as the Jehovah’s witnesses and put them in jail for years on end, torture them by suffocating them with blankets and electrocuting them so they will repent of their actions and beliefs which were a threat to the mainline orthodox church of Russia. It was also declared that for the common good children of heretical parents should be taken from their homes and sent away to be brought up my mainline orthodox believers.
Now During the dark ages of Papal rule, it was declared that for the common good, believers who did not accept the mainline Catholic teaching of Sunday Keeping or the Trinity belief should not be allowed to worship in church buildings. But furthermore, that there should be inquisitions and the inquisitors were to use torture, and even extermination of those who did not abide by the church doctrine. In fact, entire towns, and even nations were uprooted because they didn’t accept the mainline teaching. And this all apparently for the “common good” of everyone.
It was declared by King Nebuchadnezzar of ancient Babylon that for the common good three boys who weren’t worshipping according to the law of the land should be thrown in the fire. It was for the common good that King Darius religious advisors should advise Darius to make a State law that caused Daniel to be thrown into the lion’s den because he refused to walk contrary to the word of God and was deemed an outlaw and a heretic according to State law.
And now for the common good apparently, COMECE along with other Catholic-inspired organizations who participated in drawing up the document on shaping the future of work including the European Christian Workers’ Movement, the International Christian Union of Business are working together for State enforced Sunday Laws for the common good of the people.
United States Mapped out by United Nations
The United Nations have a Sustainable Development Map that was signed by the United States government on the highest levels to outlaw people from going into the red and yellow zones of the map. They want to make these areas off limits to humans and move us all into cities. God said to spread out and multiply, but the message of Babylon is to stop multiplying and move into cities. God says “Come out of Babylon” and they want to move us into it.
Sunday Enforcement the Mark of the Beast Sunday enforcement a symbol of works rather than rest and will be seen as a mark in the hands. Invisible to the world, but seen by God. As the Bible says “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work , nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” (Ecc 9:10)
And a mark in the forehead is a symbol of the mind, or the decision making part of the person.
Isaiah 8:16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
Deuteronomy 6:6-8 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart… And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand , and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes .
God wants to write his laws in our mind, this is the sign that we are sealed by Him. And the Sabbath symbolizes rest rather than works, your hand declaring your works.
The Mark is NOT a Microchip
You see the mark isn’t just some microchip that can be put in people without people making a decision. Little babies can be chipped from birth, but this doesn’t imply that they have the mark of the beast. God’s children are those who make a decision in their mind (forehead) to serve him, and furthermore, their works (hand) do follow them. (Rev 14:11-13)
If someone was doing God’s will and someone forcibly put a microchip in them, they would be lost? That is false doctrine. That would be a cruel God. The Mark can only be taken by choice, and no one could ever force someone to take it. And it has to do with keeping the commandments of God. (Rev 14:12)
Revelation 14:11-13 … and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name . Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus . And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours ; and their works do follow them.
The beast is the Papacy, and its mark is Sunday keeping, and when it is enforced by law, the world will then have a decision to make. Will they labor 6 and rest the 7 th . Or will they have no rest and follow the man who is telling them to violate God’s commandment? Will they stand on the word of God, and keep the Sabbath, or keep the day appointed by a man, the Papacy?
“Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change [Saturday Sabbath to Sunday] was her act… And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things” (H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons)
Mark of authority. Who is the author of the law? God. Who is your author-ity?
The Judgment of the Great Whore (JUDGMENT DAY 2015) An Abomination of Desolation As I mentioned earlier, the Papacy was in America on the day of atonement 2015. On the day of atonement the priest, which mediates on behalf of the people goes before the most high in the most holy place with his blood and a judgment takes place. The judgment is according to the law of God. Christ is our high priest, our mediator, our advocate, our lawyer in the judgment scene. And the day of atonement was the only day in which the priest could enter the most holy place or the presence of God.
Interestingly it was on judgment day that the Papacy was in America. America being a protestant government, protesting the works of the Papacy was now having the Papacy speak to her advising her in regard to her policies.
And the next day going to the United Nations. The Church gaining State power to push her policies is an abomination to God.
Ezekiel 16:2, 15 “Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations … But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.”
What was her sin, playing the harlot with the kings of the earth. This is an abomination. Now let’s look at Revelation 17.
Rev 17:1-2 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication , and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
Why is she judged? Fornication with the kings of the earth. Church and State. And this is an abomination. What was happening on Judgment day 2015. That very thing, but there is more. That is why she is holding a cup full of abominations, full of the blood of martyrs caused by this abomination. (Rev 17:4-6)
In Revelation 17 the Bible says a woman is riding the beast. This symbol of the harlot church, the Catholic Church gaining power over the State is a symbol to God’s people to come out of her when she is doing this. Not only that but to give a loud cry to others to “come out of her” (Rev 18:1-4)
But furthermore: Rev 17:12-14 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, These have one mind, These shall make war with the Lamb,,,,
They have one mind. Another word for one is United. A bunch of kings united. This is the United Nations. And that is what the harlot church in Revelation 17 will use to make war with God’s people. Speaking of this scarlet beast she is riding, the red dragon with ten horns, and the war that it is to be made on God’s people we read.
Rev 17:16 And the ten horns … shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
Wow. This abomination of fornication with these kings is an abomination that makes desolate. God calls us to recognize it.
Jerusalem Surrounded by Armies
You see Jesus said: Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
He also said:
Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies , then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Jerusalem the Church – The Ten Horns (Armies)
So this is a sign to us… But how is Jerusalem being surrounded?
Heb 12:22-23 But ye are come unto mount Sion , and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem , and to an innumerable company of angels, (23) To the general assembly and church of the firstborn , which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
We are told that we are children of this mother:
Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
We are her children, her seed. The Remnant of her seed.
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God , and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
This dragon has ten horns (Kings, Armies). And what is he doing? Making war. In order to make war you need armies. Therefore the King of Babylon Lucifer, (Isa 14:4,12) is coming to make war with Jerusalem, surrounding the city. But this is an abomination that makes Babylon desolate, and she like Jerusalem in 70 AD shall be “burnt with fire.” (Rev 17:16)
Jer 6:1-3 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, …for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction. I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman. The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about;…
Laws of the Land Used to Make War on Remnant
Some say that the Sabbath is nailed to the cross. But how can it be if we are going to keep it in the New Heaven and New Earth. We are told:
Isa 66:22-23 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
You see, the Papacy admits to the change. We can see it in their catechism which changes the fourth commandment to the third, removing the second on graven images, and saying we should keep the Sabbath holy but leaving the rest of the commandment concerning which day it is, and how it points to creation.
God wrote it in stone for a reason… It would be harder to delete or erase.
As part of Pope Francis encyclical on the environment he even admits that Saturday is the Sabbath, the seventh day, and Sunday is the first day. Notice:
“Sunday, like the Jewish Sabbath, is meant to be a day which heals our relationships with God, with ourselves, with others and with the world. ..Sunday is the day of the Resurrection, the “first day” of the new creation,.” (Laudato Si’, 237).
Nowhere in the New Testament are we told that the day was changed to the first day of the week. It was written in stone that it was the seventh day. And judgment is coming, and those stones will be revealed soon.
Revelation 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
For anyone who believes that when these stones are revealed they will have changed any word of it, they will be in for a huge surprise.
The tables of stone don’t read “the first day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.”
Thus through labor unions and strikes, this climate agenda will move forward. And as part of the agenda, Sunday will be seen as something beneficial to society for the common good.
This is the United Nations Agenda 2030, This is the Green New Deal, this is the Solar Alliance Movement, this the Sunrise Movement, this is the Sun – Day Movement, all these new movements, and this is why the Papacy is such a big part of this Environmental Movement with the United Nations, and this is what is coming:
Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
If we turn to God’s word, He will give us understanding of these matters, He said He would show us things which must shortly come to pass so that we might believe. He told us that by this faith comes righteousness, and He told us that his way is different than the oppressive ways of Babylon, and he has given us deliverance through the cross of Jesus Christ. -DB Related Posts

Now, let’s look at the next part of this Stealthd Review and find out its features! What will you learn inside Stealthd?
In short, Stealthd is a powerful way to use the POWER of email WITHOUT an email list. Sound confused? You’re not alone. This is something that most people don’t know about yet.
With the Stealthd method, you’re not going to need an email list. In fact it’s got nothing to do with building an email list, squeeze pages, autoresponders or any of that other regular kind of stuff .
The authors are going to show you how you can stealth your way into hundreds of thousands of people’s inboxes all at once. That’s right. They’ve spent months researching and testing this new method that allows us to get into hundreds of thousands of people’s inboxes… without even using our autoresponder.
In fact, a lot of my affiliate friends are always asking me how the authors are able to consistently top leaderboards while earning thousands of dollars every single day. And today they are gonna be revealing this secret once and for all.
“I knew this is some kind of underground loophole hack?”. Maybe you are wondering it. How can you get into random people’s inboxes without them first join in your list? This sounds like some dodgy loophole scam.
What if I tell you that the company that owns the platform which allows us to do this… is one of the biggest companies on the Internet. Who is it? Google! They’ve been allowing us to legally exploit and make bank.
It takes literally five minutes to setup. It works like this: Step one: you go and find yourself an offer Step two: you write out a very short email most of which you can copy and paste from the sales material. Step three: within minutes you’re going to show up in hundreds of thousands of people’s inboxes
What if well I don’t have a website or any of that kind of stuff? You don’t need it. That’s the beauty of this system. It’s all done in-house… meaning that you don’t need a website, you don’t need hosting, you don’t need a domain or any of that stuff.
This system allows literally anyone to be able to stealth their way into people’s inboxes… without any of that regular list building tools and trouble.
Most people teach the same stuff over and over again. Something like list building, bonus pages, videos personally,… I’m always looking for new innovative ways that I can expand my business. So I’m constantly testing new things. Now most of the time this fails, but sometimes it works…
And when it does work, I extensively test it to make sure that it’s not a fluke. And this one isn’t. I’ve been using this exact Stealthd system for the past 3 weeks and it works like a charm.
How about if it gets saturated if everybody starts doing it? In fact, in a 2018 case study, the authors predicted that by the beginning of 2019, there’s going to be more than 3.8 billion email users. I would say that that’s more than enough to go around.
Inside the training, you get access to over 70 minutes worth of detailed step-by-step videos… showing even the most technophobic people how to implement the Stealthd strategy. The system itself is very easy to implement… so the explaining doesn’t take too long . Yet the results are astonishing. Honest Stealthd Review – Is it worth your money?

Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss America are all black women for the first time – CNN

(CNN) For the first time, America’s top beauty pageants — Miss USA , Miss Teen USA and Miss America — have crowned black women as their winners at the same time.
And that’s a big deal if you know pageant history. Beauty pageants early in their histories, some dating back to the 1920s, barred women of color from participating. Even after organizations began changing their rules to accept women of all races, there was still a lingering frustration and opposition to join. Only in the last 50 years have black women become more prevalent in these competitions. Vanessa Williams was the first black Miss America in 1983, and Carole Anne-Marie Gist , the first black Miss USA contestant, was crowned in 1990. The following year Janel Bishop became the first black Miss Teen USA. So when Cheslie Kryst was named 2019’s Miss USA on Thursday, she became part of a historic trio, along with 2019 Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris and 2019 Miss America Nia Franklin. Read More Here’s what you should know about these three women: Miss USA works on behalf of prisoners Kryst has a law degree and MBA from Wake Forest. She also studied at the University of South Carolina. Receiving three degrees from two universities , Kryst is a 28-year-old attorney with a mission to help reform America’s justice system. Hailing from North Carolina, Kryst practices civil litigation for a law firm and has a passion for helping prisoners who may have been sentenced unjustly get reduced punishments — free of charge. Kryst, who is licensed to practice in two states, earned both her law degree and MBA from Wake Forest University and completed her undergraduate work at the University of South Carolina. In a video played during this week’s competition, Kryst told a story about how a judge at a legal competition suggested she wear a skirt instead of pants because judges prefer skirts. “Glass ceilings can be broken wearing either a skirt or pants,” she said. “Don’t tell females to wear different clothes while you give the men substantive feedback on their legal arguments.” Since then, she’s built a blog for women’s workwear fashion and volunteered for Dress for Success . Miss Teen USA defies pageant beauty norms Garris says she feels more confident and comfortable with her naturally curly hair. When Garris took the Miss Teen USA stage Sunday, she did it with confidence as she wore her natural hair. “I know what I look like with straight hair, with extensions, and with my curly hair, and I feel more confident and comfortable with my natural hair,” the 18-year-old from Connecticut told Refinery29 . When she began competing in pageants, Garris said she had to fight against beauty standards suggesting that straight hair was better than her natural curls. There were people who told her how they thought she should style her hair, she said. But she ignored their criticism, and went on to win the title of Miss Connecticut Teen USA with her natural hair and then Miss Teen USA. Miss America says music helped her find herself Franklin works with the nonprofit group Sing for Hope to help others through the power of music. Franklin remembers what music did for her. Now she tries to inspire children in the same way. An opera singer, Franklin discovered her identity through music, she explained during the Miss America competition in September. “I grew up at a predominately Caucasian school, and there was only 5% minority, and I felt out of place so much because of the color of my skin,” the 23-year-old North Carolina native said. “But growing up, I found my love of arts, and through music that helped me to feel positive about myself and about who I was.” Representing New York, Franklin showed her passion for music when she sang “Quando m’en vo'” from Puccini’s “La Bohème.” Wowing the judges, she was crowned the 2019 Miss America. This past year, she has been an advocate for the arts . She works with Sing for Hope , a nonprofit focused on helping people, including children and artists, through the power of music.
